About This Material

Refined light yellow beeswax is a purified natural wax produced by honey bees (Apis species). It consists primarily of esters of fatty acids and long-chain alcohols. With a melting point range of 61–67 °C, it exhibits a soft, pliable structure and stable emulsifying properties. The material complies with FDA regulations (21 CFR 184.1973 & 184.1975) and is listed by CTFA for cosmetic applications.

Traditional Homesteading Uses

Historically used as a structural material for honeycomb construction, beeswax has long been utilized in ointments, balms, salves, candles, and protective coatings for wood and leather.

Modern Applications

Widely applied in cosmetic formulations (creams, lotions, lipsticks, emulsions, hair care products), pharmaceutical excipients, food-grade coatings and inks, polishes, textile and paper finishes, moldings, lubricants, and industrial wax blends. Its controlled ester and acid values make it suitable for stable emulsification and consistency adjustment in formulated systems.

⚠️ Safety Information

Generally regarded as safe when handled appropriately in industrial and laboratory environments. Avoid overheating beyond recommended melting range. Use appropriate protective equipment to prevent thermal burns during melting operations. Maintain adequate ventilation when processing molten material.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Keep in tightly closed containers to prevent contamination. Avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above ambient storage conditions.
